LETTER TO AURA 2012 Single-channel video installation8 min, color, sound
The video consists of a single fixed eight-minute long take, showing a concrete wall topped with broken glass. Filmed in the early evening, the wall gradually disappears with the arrival of night, while a voice-over recounts experiences of crossing and migration — notably a letter from Moroccan painter Mohamed Kacimi addressed to a Swiss customs officer who had stopped and searched him at an airport, as well as a letter from Felix González-Torres to his gallerist, in which he describes his work Passport. Halloubi himself experienced this kind of abusive customs control in Norway when he had been invited to a biennial by a curator named Aura.
