La boucle features a young woman of African origin standing in front of a colonial sculpture in Brussels. Halloubi uses a vertical tracking shot to film this continuous and infinite face-to-face encounter.As often in his work, the artist develops formal strategies to engage with historical and political issues. Here, the loop and the formal structure of the video are used to suggest the ongoing nature of the colonial project.
